It began as observation... a fish moves through water the way this dish holds space, quietly, with purpose, the body doing all the work. The abstracted teardrop form, that single protruding tail-handle, the interior's translucent warm yellow-green glaze catching light like shallow seawater over sand. Outside, the texture is almost violent by comparison: rough, thick, sandy, scaled. To hold this piece is to hold something that came from somewhere.
